Sondre Bergtun Auganæs
Sondre Bergtun Auganæs holds a MSc in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Engineering Science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His doctoral research focused on developing a repeatable method for measuring friction between skis and snow in laboratory conditions, contributing to the Nano2Glide project aimed at creating fluorine-free ski glide solutions.
His research activities emphasize mechanical design, experimental testing, and product development, particularly within winter sports technology and snow-related applications. Auganæs has been involved in designing and constructing experimental setups for winter maintenance operations, including a scaled snow removal system to analyze chemical residue on runway asphalt surfaces. Additionally, he is engaged in sustainable snow management for ski facilities, working on optimizing snow storage techniques and improving resource efficiency to ensure reliable skiing conditions despite climate change.
Beyond his expertise in mechanical engineering, Auganæs has experience in interdisciplinary research, measurement techniques, and applied technology development. His work bridges the gap between fundamental research and practical applications, with a strong focus on innovation and technical problem-solving.
